1. Fine grain is larger than surface area, surface energy can increase greatly. Under certain condition, surfaces of different ores can coagulate with each other selectively. On the other hand, as the surface energy of fine grain is large, though it owns high absorption ability, it has bad selective adsorption ability, which causes the difficult selective of fine grain.
2. Small fine grain volume causes little possibility to collide with bubble. Volume of fine grain is small, when fine grain collides with bubble, it cannot overcome the resistance of hydrated shell between ore and bubble, so it can hardly adhere to bubble.

1. Selective flocculation flotation. Use flocculant to choose grains of minerals or fine gangue selectively, and then separated through flotation progress.
2. Carrier flotation. Use common grade ore grain as carrier, and then let objective ore grain covers in the carrier. Carrier can be the similar ore or different ores. For example, pyrite can be the carrier that uses for the flotation of fine grain gold; calcite can act as carrier to float away iron, titanium and other impurities in kaolin.
